Getting Your Business Out Into Your Community
A strategic way to start a following and to create loyalty from your customers is to make a presence for yourself in the community. You can gain recognition of your brand just by becoming an active part of the municipality where your business resides.
Here are five things you can try to get yourself out into the community:
Volunteering yourself and your time is one of the easiest and best ways to get into the community. It’s also a chance to have other businesses respect yours and open the possible B2B relationships that could form. It also looks really good: good that you’re giving back and also good because you have the ability to market your brand by having your team wear t-shirts with your business name on it! Millennials, more than any other generation, want to know what businesses are doing to protect the environment or give back to the local or global community in some way before using their services. And, usually this will turn into brand loyalty, so it’s best to make that impression now.
2. Community Events
Become a vendor at different festivals, trade fairs and events happening in town. And, make yourself stand out by giving things out and interacting with participants. This will give you the chance to speak directly with possible customers and get an understanding of what they’re looking for. You can also sponsor events to get your name onto programs and signage.
More than just your time, giving financial donations to the community helps get your name out there and leaves a positive mark. It’s also a great idea to donate your product or a gift certificate to silent auctions in the community; this gives someone the chance to use your product, love it, and recommend it to their peers. Do some research and keep an open mind as you interact with your community. Try to find causes to donate to that relate to your business.
4. Host Events
If you have a cause you support or think you can help the community in some way, it’s always great to show your merit. Hosting events such as an Open House at your business helps bring awareness to possible customers. It’s also a great way to build morale amongst your team and to promote your work values. And, of course, hosting an event is a great way to sell tickets and products so you can make money, as well as put you ahead of the competition. It’s always great to have your business make it into the local newspaper and other social media pages. You’ll also strengthen the community as a whole by having people get together and bond with each other.
5. Have Contests & Giveaways
Having an incentive is a good method for social media especially to encourage viewers to “share” your post and, therefore, build your audience (even if just for a short period of time). Viewers won’t be able to help themselves but to share for a chance to win. Why not let your customers do the marketing for you? If they’re proud of your product, they’ll share it. It may also persuade the viewers who didn’t win to come and visit your physical business and look around.
Don’t seem too overwhelmed; it can take a bit of time to gain brand recognition in the community, but if you be true to your values, and to yourself, they will react positively.
